Hotpoint Ultima Close Door Error

Hi

We have a Hotpoint Ultima 1400 WM76 Washing Machine

We often get an error message “close door” when starting even though the door is closed

We have found that by slamming the door harder the machine will start

Gradually the amount of slamming required is increasing and I am sure this cannot be doing the machine much good

Is this a sign that something in the door mechanism needs replacing? We fitted a new door seal a few months ago but it made no difference

Any suggestions gratefully received

The door interlock may be getting tired. This requires attention/replacement because if the contacts fall apart inside it it may short and blow the timer/module. Unplug before checking :zap:

You don`t really need to test it , just replace it. You can order it here if you go to Shop@ on the left of this page , then washing machine spares , then door interlocks , the one you want is 1602390.
