ParticipantHi, I’ve just posted on the Tumble dryer forum and am so impressed! Just saved ourselves £200+ on a new dryer so have come here to see if anyone can help us with our dishwasher.
It hasn’t been working since xmas and has been sat unused since then. Just tried it again to see if it was still unusable, which it is.
The issue that we are having is that it appears to start working but it doesn’t seem to be letting any water in and won’t drain. The machine is heating up, when we open the door steam appears, but no water. There is nothing wrong with the water supply to the main machine.
There may be a very obvious answer, but we are both useless when it comes to electricals.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

Sadly this machine is 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} Indesit. You should be getting an error message in the display, is anything showing?
The drain pumps on these do get blocked quite easily, drain pump is accessed from underneath.
Mains plug out, drain out as much water as you can, place several large towels on the floor and lie it onto its left hand side (from front)
With the base removed and a careful note of the position of the wiring plug to the float switch taken you can then access the drain pump.Take care to protect the internals from any water leakage.
If you do remove the drain pump then be sure to refit the small, black rubber ‘O’ ring correctly.

Thank you for your reply, will get hubby to do this when he gets home from work.
I’ve just tried it again and after about 20 mins from putting on a wash cycle it bleeped and has come up with AL10.

AL10 is a ‘no heat’ fault.
Both the heating element and the main circuit board are prone to failure causing this fault.
Its time for someone with a megger or multimeter to take a look TBH. ( Or time for a new machine) 😉
Two different PCB systems used on these. Full serial number and commercial code needed to identify.

Hmm, not sure that musak is any better. 😀
First of all we need the full serial number and any other numbers from the label down the side of the door. As mentioned above there are two totally different control systems used on these, sadly both of them are rather poor.
I also noticed on your video that some of the buttons appear to have been pressed in a bit, they are touch buttons, not push buttons. Being a bit heavy handed with the buttons can damage the PCB.
If you have access to a megger or suitable multimeter then the first thing to do after removing the mains plug is to test the main motor and heater for low insulation.
If they are fine then it points to either the display PCB or the main power PCB on the later model. Display PCB is most likely but you never know with these Indesit made machines.

thanks iadom
they have to be pressed till they click too.
is there a way i can reset the whole thing.my friend with multimeter cant come till thurs. the rinse and salt indicators are stuck on too,ive also had no problems at all.thanks for helpNovember 14, 2011 at 5:43 pm #358478iadom
ModeratorRe: Hotpoint Ultima FDW80 – Not working…
They are not ‘click’ switches as such, they just need the lightest of pressure, yours do look to have been subject to a little more force than is needed, these Indesit machines are not the strongest made machines on the market.
The only reset you can do is to press ( gently ) and hold the Start button until it resets.
TBH it looks as though your facia PCB is goosed at the very least.
You still haven’t given us the full serial number, needed if you want any parts info.

its a fdw80
s-n 5116 1109
cod.37331870000
how would you check or know if its pcb?November 18, 2011 at 10:56 pm #358481iadom
ModeratorRe: Hotpoint Ultima FDW80 – Not working…
No easy way to check the PCB’s , sometimes visual damage is apparent but not always.
The Indesit electronics used in these machines is dreadful, the facia PCB is around £100 and the 100 bit timer/control PCB is £70.00 approx.
Display PCB is a C00143234
Control PCB is a C00143220It still leaves you with the prospect of pouring lots of money into a low end piece of Italian junk. 😥
