I have a problem with the grill on my Hotpoint Ultima cooker. It is operated by a knob which also operates the oven, but when trying to light the grill, the flame goes out as soon as the knob is released. The oven however is working normally.

Can anyone identify what the problem is please?

    ThankYou.

in the flame there is a device called a thermocouple. this device tells the cooker that the flame is lit. its a safety device that cuts off the gas if the burner goes out

should be a simple fix but must be fitted by a gas safe professional engineer

I have the same cooker, however both the grill and the oven cutout as soon as I move my hand from the knob. Is it the same fix?

Hi all. I have the Hotpoint Hug61 ultima. My grill or top oven would not light.

I saw this post and replaced the thermocouple for the grill. I installed the oven, fired it up and yes, ignition of the oven and grill. Thought It had fixed the problem but now the grill stays on for 40 secs to a min then turns off. Any ideas.

    Thanks
