KeymasterHi I have a Hotpoint Ultima Microprofile Wash Sysstem 1600 spin which is approx 5 years old. the problem I have is inside the drum there are 3 plastic triangular bits that presumably help to move the washing round as well as having water coming out of the line of holes down them. Anyway, two of these have broken off. On the underside there are moulded plastic clips which have snapped off and it looks like there should have been some screws holding them in place as well but they are probably in the pump by now. So I am now left with two strips in the drum (where these plastic things should be) with big oval shaped holes in them where I can see through to the element below. Is it possible to replace these or am I better off cutting my losses and buying a new machine?

This is a common problem but easily fixed. The only thing is that there are 3 different tyes of these lifters and we would need to know the hole arrangement in them to id.the correct one. (ie the position of the slightly larger holes) Also your model number would be helpful.

My spirits have been lifted.
The machine model is a WMA61S serial number 84115639.
Inside the lifter I have found this if it helps DRG No 1613201001
Re the items concerned, of the holes there are 21 holes along the top and the third one in from each end is bigger going down a tube like a screw hole. Is it a screw hole and if so would there have been screws in it? Also if I can get replacement parts is it something my hubby can fix?September 3, 2005 at 11:09 pm #146595iadom

Sorry to dampen your spirits but your machine has the earliest Mk1 version of the lifters.
These are not interchangable with the later types.Part number is 1603296, there is a special fitting tool kit part number 5600224. There are no screws involved.
The bad news is that the success rate of new lifters, even when fitted with the special tool kit and plastic rokut rivets is ‘variable’ and that is something of an understatement.
If you do manage to fix them, do not wash trainers or any other small loads of heavy items.
Not technically difficult but if I was to do this repair I would advise the customer that I could not guarantee the work.

Thankyou it might be worth a try anyway if it prolongs the life of the machine a bit longer. It wasn’t a cheap machine in the first place !!

Definately worth a try, the alternative is a new drum or a new machine. Might be worth purchasing 3 lifters and keep one as a spare. Simple fitting instructions come with the fitting kit I mentioned.
Although this can be done from the front without any dismantling, still best to remove the plug whilst you do so.And remember to keep the trainers well away from the machine unless you are wearing them.
If you have difficulty obtaining these parts drop an e-mail to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk

A thought has just occured to me, have you at any time had the drum assembly replaced on this machine to cure a noisy bearing problem, if yes then you will more than likely need the MK2 lifters, if not then you are one of a very select few. 😉
MK 2 lifters are much easier to fit , part No:1603824.
