ParticipantHi guys,
Nother symptons to report – other that no heat is being produced whilst drying. Which is a bit of a shame considering its a dryer !
I’ve checked that the filter at the front is clear, the condenser isnt blocked & that the water tray isnt full.
Any other quick checks you can suggest or even what might have caused the heat to fail & how to fix
Many Thanks
David

No heat is almost certainly the result of these thermostats being goosed
They are apparently easy to change although I’ve never done a set myself they look easy enough.

Thanks for such a quick rely & on a Saturday afternoon too! I’ll order them from the link & fit them myself.
Any tips on where these are located?
By the way – immediately after posting the question I tried again & the heat came on – so I’m wondering ….can thermostat failures be intermitttent? Otherwise I guess it could be a loose connection somewhere…which could be a real job to locate…!
Now having come back after going out- the original problem has come back….
What do you think?

Hi guys,
I wondered even if you cant answer the ‘intermittent’ question what hints you could give for where the thermostats are located & ideas for how to get at them?

Stats under rear cover. Also thermostat in the top of the door opening. Intermittents are a swine – dodgy wiring, stats and timers are all possible culprits.

Sorry about all the questions…but having removed all the screws to inspect the rear of the machine ( unplugged of course) – the rear cover appears to be stuck(welded?) to the main machine chassis.
Is this usual? If not, how on earth does it come off?
Thanks
David

Flat bladed screwdriver at the top and lever gently. It’ll give……..
Oh, cross bar and bearing cover have to go as well.

Thanks…yes cross bar & bearing cover already off….will be weilding a screwdriver this evening when I get home….
PS – are these the type of thermostats that can be reset? I seem to remember seeing in other posts that this is possible in certain circumstances?

No…one is self resetting (running stat) the other is a one-shot (safety stat)

OK Guys here is an update…
In taking the back off we found it was full of fluff…that has been hoovered out & hey presto it works again….
….not sure why it works if the Stats had gone… or are we back to the unidentified intermittent fault & the fluff is nothing to do with it?
What do u think?

Yeah?…For how long I wonder before that intermittent problem returns? It strikes me first off that if the back was full of fluff then the lint filter has not been cleaned after each use? So that tells me this machine wants a good old clean out, no messing. 😉 I wonder what the state of the Condenser Matrix (Box) is like? 😕

I think that the front exhaust stat is working overtime trying to keep up to be honest. Just give the whole machine a thorough de-fluffing session. You’ve cleaned the back heating duct and fan now I guess. Now clean the door cavity and the condenser box….. 😉
Religiously clean that Lint Filter after every dry cycle( the one in the door) OK?

Well, that intermittent fault is back…. so i’ve ordered the thermostat kit to see if it solves the problem. I’ll let you know how I get on.

Hi guys,
I replaced the thermostats as supplied and still no heat being produced. Any other suggestions – I seem to remember there being talk of a front thermostat as well – could that be the culprit instead? If not any other sugestions?
What about the obvious..the heater is goosed?

Could be the dreaded dryness module. Type TDC62 into search facility to reveal other posts.
