ParticipantHi. A carpet fitter went to push my washer/dryer under the kitchen worktop recently and put his hand straight through the plastic screen that houses the lcd display and buttons. The display still works but the buttons dont. Does anyone know where to acquire a new one? Thanks in advance.

TBH I would get the console looked at first. There are lots of bits & pieces behind the facia including some expensive electronics. It may be possible to push everything back into place, they do come adrift very easily.
It would be impossible to know what parts if any are required without taking the console panel off and taking a look.
There are around a dozen separate parts to the console panel.
The carpet fitter will be liable for any damage and if reputable will have public liability insurance to cover for such mishaps.
Jim.

Thanks for the reply guys. I’ll take the lid off and have a proper look later on. I thought it’d be quite complex behind there but I’m hoping it’s not as bad as it looks.
Unfortunately for me Jim, I never noticed the washing machine was broken until later on that evening so I doubt I’d have a leg to stand on. It looked like he tried to pull the panel back out and line it up with the front panel so it was hard to notice it was broken. It’s only when you go to use the buttons that you notice they dont work because the panel that holds the buttons just moves about inside. Not sure if I can be bothered with the hassle of claiming either. It was a council contractor so I’m pretty sure I’d have more succes banging my head off a brick wall.

Be sure to remove the mains plug first before you have a look. It is quite often possible to press the buttons and the other plastic bits back into place, they are very flimsy.
