    Hi There,

Last week, the washing machine went on the fritz. I had put a load on and we were sitting in another room when the machine started beeping. It normally beeps 3 times to let me know the load is finished, but I thought it was done a bit too quickly and a minute later it did 3 beeps again, then again a minute or so later. I went into the kitchen to check on it and the display was totally blank, it was full of water and I couldn’t get it to do anything.

I switched it off at the wall to try and reset it and it came back on again as though nothing was wrong, even picked up the cycle program at the same place it left off. However, after re-starting it, I think it maybe went for 2 minutes before shutting off again. I switched it off and on again, managed to get it to drain as I wondered if it was too heavy a load or something. I took out two bulky-ish things and set it going again, but as I re-started it, some water flushed back up through the plug hole in the sink, so I immediately thought the drain was plugged, but no, we checked it and it was fine.

It ran for maybe half a minute before the entire thing died again, but this time we haven’t been able to get it to come back on at all. I just had to soak the kitchen floor and get all the laundry into the sink while we cleared up the flood waters, then we checked the filter (which was fine) all the drain and water hoses appear to be fine so we’re stumped now.

Before we start buying parts and replacing them (my OH is electrically competant) I thought I’d ask if any of you expert people have any thoughts?

    Thank you
    Amy

Checking the simple things first, obvious wiring breaks, worn motor brushes, heating element insulation down etc.

With the mains plug removed of course.
