Hi, can anyone offer advice please?

Our hotpoint main oven has just started overheating. It was fine the other day and only thing changed since was cooking a meal that splashed quite a lot of oil over the inside. Top top oven & grill all work fine.

If I switch the main oven on to 100c on the dial, the heating light comes on and I can see the element glow brightly at the back (it didn’t do this before). The heating light never goes out despite the oven getting very hot and the oven constantly heats up.
If I turn the dial down low, you can normally hear a ‘click’ when it goes below the temperature but this no longer happens.

Anybody have any ideas? Is this something simple to fix or would I be best getting a Hotpoint engineer out as we are within our 5yr free parts guarantee but need an approved engineer to fit?

    Thanks for any help…

    Thanks Karv,

Yes the fan still works fine.

Is that the thermostat that is connected to the temperature dial on the front you are refering to?
