ParticipantHi all.
I have bought a second-hand Hotpoint Aquarius VTD00 Tumble Dryer on the understanding that it was in full working condition but this is not the case. I can’t afford to get it fixed professionally or replaced so I’m hoping you can help. The problem I have is that when I press Start, the drum starts to spin and as far as I can tell, everything works as it should. However, when I take my finger from the Start button, it stops. This happens whether it is set to Low or High heat.
In terms of the problem, it’s hard to give you any more detail than that but please ask if you need anything clearing up.

Latching relay isn’t – you need one of THESE.
Power off if you are tackling this yourself.

Well I have the part you suggested so unplugged the dryer from the mains and removed some panels (top, front, rhs) hoping to see the old Start Relay in there. I figured if I could locate it, all I would have to do is connect everything to the replacement in the same order and that would be it.
As it happens, I can’t see the current part anywhere! Can anyone tell me where the Start Relay is likely to be positioned in the machine?
Should it look similar to the replacement part or is that just a generic part that can be used in a several machines, simply wired slightly differently?

That’s strange….. It’s listed for that machine in the shop@ section. It should be sitting behind the control panel, under the metal top rail.

Oh…….. Later versions went on to a relay pcb board – is there a small pcb located as described above?

Dangnabit! Right, you need C00207999. It doesn’t show in the shop, so drop Dave an email on spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk with that part number and explain what’s happened (or a link to this thread). It’ll get sorted promptly for you.
Apologies,
