ParticipantHave noticed what look like clear oil stains on clothes/sheets which have been through the dryer. Feel a bit of a dork actually 😳 it’s taken me ages to work out that it’s the dryer after I put some new pillow cases in and they came out streaky………
Can’t feel anything greasy inside the dryer – any ideas?
Thanks

Do you use tumble dryer sheets and if so do you put in more than one at a time?
My wife used to use the “tesco moist dryer sheets” and used three at a time to make things smell better :rolls: ….. started getting streaky marks.
Dropped to the recommended one sheet and the marks stopped.
Hope this helps 😉Chris

Thanks for the reply, Chris.
I sometimes use Bounce sheets, but only one at a time – I never noticed a similar problem in my old Hotpoint.

Now then…….
If this very noisy dryer is even more noisy than normal (grating. grumbling, scraping, banging), the shaft may well have sheared off the back of the drum.
It is worth considering that the drum fits in the casing and its’ seals so badly, that large amounts of fluff accumulates in the back of the drum. This will periodically burn and blow into the drum, causing black marks.
Just changing the shaft may not solve the basic problem.
Tha’ noes, lass.

Participantthe kit mr penguin…. the front and rear seal will need changin of course, and the machine will need a GOOD clean while its apart to ensure safe and correct function, thats why i recommended the kit, not just the shaft
