Can anybody tell me what the resistance readings for the thermistor in the exit vent tube should be at room temperature?
The thermistor is working giving different values at various temperatures.
Both of the thermostats above the heater have been replaced and the machine now says it is over heating error code 13.
I am a bit reluctant to buy a new thermistor and find the fault it elsewhere….
    Thanks in advance.

This machine is subject to the fire safety ‘recall’ has it had the modifications done?

There is not much point in me registering, as it is not working properly, if I can sort out this problem with the thermistor I will register it.
Do you know anything about the thermistor resistance values?

Tony – yes we do know how the thermistor works…… the resistance value drops as the drier gets hotter. But you have to take seriously what Jim is saying – register it as faulty as the machine is subject to a safety recall that mustn’t be ignored. These machines can and do catch fire! If the drier is showing an overheat fault and in the light of what has been said, that should be enough for you to quit while you’re ahead. Hotpoint will offer you a modification for free or a brand new drier in a box delivered for £59.
Why would you bother to try and fix it? Your house insurance and moreover your family won’t thank you if God forbid the worst happens. Especially if you are the last person to repair it………
