ParticipantHi folks
Got a problem with one of these overheating and not switching off on autosense..
Not sure how it works but looks like a sensing pad fitted to one of the paddles attached to a metal strip round the drum where a brush conatact is attached via a wire.
Am I right in assuming that the pad senses the resistance of the cloths between pad and earth the theory bieng the wetter the clothes the lower the resistance etc..?
If so.. the insulation between drum and strip seems to have moved in places and distorted, When testing there is a very low resistance between drum and strip which prumuably result in senser not switching off as low resistance = wet clothes
Has anyone else had this problem?
How easy is it to change insulation as the problem looks to be in getting the band tight enough so the new insulation doesn’t slip out?
Comments welcome – thanks folks 🙂

Correct!

There have been a couple of mods on this model for that very reason. What is the date code of yours?

No mod I’m afraid as yours is an earlier model. 🙁 Later models did away with the band around the drum and instead put the sensor on the front ducting.
The Sensing Band you may need is 1702788 and the Insulation Band is 1702787. I’ve never fitted one so I can’t help you there, sorry. 🙁
The copper brush pickup has to make a good contact, so if the band is as bad as you describe, hopefully replacing it will cure?
Good luck!
It’s Friday 13th by the way, so take care out there now! 😉

Thanks Wilf
Just wondered if there was a problem getting the band tight enough to hold the insulation firm.. but sounds like it went ok for you..
Thanks
