    Hi,
    wherever the selector is :-
    top lights 2,3,4,5 flash
    Side lights 3 & 4 flash and display shows 1h 55m
    and a beep.
It also switches itself on. There are 2 stats and a sensor?? (which has no reading) above the heater.
    Any clues for please?
    Thanks
    Rob

When you say no reading, its an NTC so its resistance will vary with temperature.

All those lights flashing sounds like a PCB fault though. I wonder if these boards have the same capacitor fault that the washer PCB’s have?

    Thanks Jim,
It was o/c but I’ve never seen one before on a Hotpoint dryer.
I agree about the PCB but suppose I needed a backup.

Are you sure it was O/C, I got fooled the very first time I tested one using a simple continuity test thinking it was a stat. 😉

If you like I can send you a little something. 🙂

It might be worth having a look at the tops of the capacitors on the PCB to see if any have ‘domed’.

It’s ok Jim, the customer decided to get a White Knight as she has had problems with it for two years before they called me. Makes me wonder why they rang me in the first place.
