Very possibly the cause but I’m not familiar enough with that machine to say for sure, I’d think it was though.

That is unlikely to be enough to repair this machine properly.

A full shaft, seal & bearing kit is most certainly the only way to effect a proper repair.
Repair kit

Although it doesn’t show it in the picture that kit includes the square bearing.
