ParticipantHi – put the machine thru a wash cycle and it was fine. It span ok but when doing the final distribution part it tripped out the rcd. Unplugged motor but it still did it ?? Light came on but within 5secs it had gone again.
I’m thinking timer but ANY other IDEAS ??
Thanks Brett 😳

Chaffed wire more probable than timer, i would think.

if this is the model with the fhp motor on top check wiring that runs along in fron of motor there is a black guard wrapped around wiring that prob has moved and there will be chaffed wiring had this prob only a week ago. 8)

chaffed wiring is the most likely where the wiring from the motor is fixed to the cabinet with a tyrap is very common place for chaffing.

Check the wiring to the fan motor where it runs over the heaterbox. Had those stripped of insulation in the past as well.

Thanks very much for all your help but why might a chaffed wire only do something once the prog is almost over as thats the only time it trips out ?????????

The machine moves the wire to the chaffed position as it comes down off the final spin. (Different speeds cause different movement of wire). It sounds a long shot but i does happen.

Wiring faults on these as common as ditchwater, check carefully all wires running along the right hand top lip of machine especially the orange ones. You can see the copper strands if you lok closely, I have had loads of these of the years and its the movment of the tub during spin and sometimes even load dependant that causes this fault to manefest itself.
Sometimes using a megger and testing whislt manually moving the loom you can see small sparks or hear arching !
Good Luck
