Hotpoint W865A, wash fine at normal drum speed, first fill level of rinse fine normal drum speed then as it fills a second time (to a higher level) on rinse, drum speed suddenly increases to around 3 times faster than the wash speed. Drum hits side panel, machine moves etc. Is this normal?

Check that model number Mark, cannot find it anywhere.

Not seen that happen myself, input from someone seeing these under warranty may be needed.

This machine will probably be fitted with an induction motor and inverter board. If so, tug the black lead that goes from the motor loom to earth. I had one that was tearing clothes; the drum speeded up on the rinses like the old 95 series Hotpoints did when the AKO timers used to burn internally.
Eventually found it – the black earth wire was snapped off at the body terminal amp tag. 😉 Sorted!!

    Hope that helps,

    Steve.
