Got a newish Hotpoint washer/dryer that failed due to drum bearing wear breaking the belt. Bearing replacement isn’t possible without replacing the drum so have purchased a new drum and replaced it. All working fine but I noticed when doing the job that the stabilisers/shock absorbers were in the 71 labelled place but the top springs were in the 58 labelled place. This didn’t seem right but the machine was bought new and untouched so was manufactured/put together this way.

This doesn’t see right but can anyone confirm or deny? Thanks in advance.

cant comment without getting full model and commercial code. dont know what labels you mean as i have not seen them
but if the drum looks straight then it shoul be ok

I’ve copied exactly as it was setup previously but it just seemed inconsistent in my mind.

Your Hotpoint has a five year parts guarantee, you pay their labour about £110 IIRC and they would have left you with a fully working machine by throwing all the parts required at it.

My understanding was it was a £110 call out fee then labour charged depending on the job. Am I wrong?

you would have had to ring and ask but you would have a warranty on the repair whereas now you may not have as somtimes they dont guarentee part unless fitted by qualified staff
also any other parts it needs would have been included

To be fair it’s running sweet now but my OCD means the inconsistency with those labels is playing on my mind!

Happy new year to all by the way, let’s all hope 2021 is soon Covid free and prosperous for all!

you will probably find the cabinet is designed to be used in different configurations and other drums would fit on different slots. as long as you have replaced as it was then it should be fine

Have seen this many times on 52L tanks where the dampers have been factory fitted towards to front weight, in the 62L position. As Dave said I refit them in the same position.

    Murv…
