Help!!Good one this.Problem is:Set machine on programme 9,wool wash with 4 towels as test load, machine fills up and goes at about 70/80 rpm in one direction only, banging about as the dryer manifold bangs onto the side casing-this all happens within 2 minutes of the machine having started ie it has filled up(correct level).Tried 4 times in a row with same result.Thought i`d try on prog 3 …didn`t bang about but the customer told me that it has done pretty much as soon as it has filled up.Tried silk wash prog 10 once again ok..Checked tacho wires/motor block/fitted with ceset motor so magnet not visible,so presume pcb u/s.Retried prog 9 again last time still bangs about(5th time)-motor to fast.Any ideas please (the dryer and wash elements are NOT to earth or o/circ) . Hi George.YES the susp legs are ok-nothing wrong with them at all.fault lies with an electrical issue.Spin prog ok ie spider arms not cracked-should think not at 2.5 years old.

Only other time I have seen anything similar to what you describe is when a main-board had a faulty motor relay on a WMA30 about 5 or 6 years ago.

Most Hotpoint/Indesit machines do a 90rpm wash action on the woollens programme, it is supposed to do it, they call it a surge wash. My nine year old WMA62 does it in the middle of all cotton washes. The WMA30 is also designed to do just that on all cotton washes as well George. 😉

Most likely nothing wrong with the motor/tacho/module on either machine.

It does point to a suspension issue TBH.

Try it without a load so that it is not banging about and it should revert to normal wash speed after a few minutes on the surge wash cycle.
