Participanthi can anyone help as my washer keeps leaving black marks on the whites after the full wash cycle. it did the same on my previous washer indeset (spare) so i swapped it to the hotpoint and it still does it . any ideas thanks matt

It’s not the machines, it’s the user. Constant low temp washes, especially with liquids will cause this.

hi if i do a hot wash with nothing in will that sort it? also the drum semms to be catching on something when i spin it manually? the weights had come loose at the bottom so i tightened them up but it still catching in a certain pllace thanks matt

Ohhh dear, not sounding good….drum bearing failure I expect, drum shaft loose? Noisy on spin too is it?

Sounds like the alloy drum support may have broken, this will cause black marks and is a common failure when using liquids and mostly low temp washes.

Sounds like the inner drum has damaged the heater.

thks for reply. i have put the indeset washer back in ,did a 90 degree wash with nothing in then a darks wash at 40 then a whites wash at 40 and all the whites have black marks on them . dont know what to do any ideas? thks matt

Hold up!….I thought we were talking about a Hotpoint?….now you have an Indesit doing the same…..is that the story?

sorry the hotpoint started with black marks then drum was catching on something then kept tripping electric . i have a indesit so put it in but keeps leaving black marks on whites thks matt

To be certain of the extent of the problem the WDM needs to be fully stripped down to determine the extent of the damage. Is that within your capabilities?
