Hi, I would welcome an urgent repsonse from anyone who can shed light on my problem. I have a significant clonking noise which occurs during the spin cycle around mid-speed, which quietens down at full speed. A couple of weeks ago i had to replace a broken spring, which seemed to cure the problem for a while. Now it is back with a vengeance. I have disconnected the springs and the dampers seem to be fine, returning to normal position without oscillating too much. I can replicate the sound by lifting the drum from inside, against the outer plastic drum. Running the machine with the top removed indicates that the inner drum might be touching the outer drum at the pulley end. There does not appear to be any wear on the outboard bearing as the pulley does not lift, but could it still be this bearing, or any sort of bearing pad at the door end of the drum. Whatever it is, is it a replaceable part or time for a new machine? heeeeelp? neil

The inner drum spigot has corroded and broken. It needs a new ‘Spigot and Bearing Kit’(click here) to rectify. 😉

Sounds like a snapped drum support. If there is no major noise when you rotate the drum quickly by hand but you get up and down movement of the drum then it is almost certain your drum support has snapped. Often caused by using to much liquid detergent and constant low temperature washes, particularly bad in soft water areas.

Depend on overall condition, age, usage etc as to wether it is a viable repair, it may have already damaged the heating element as well.

EDIT. I’ll leave you to it Martin, I’m of to give that little black number a good bashing. 😉

No, seasoned players use a double yellow dot 😉 .

And believe me, I’m well seasoned. 😆

Hi, thanks for the advice on the drum support. £30 sounds better than £300 to replace this side of xmas so I may go down that route unless special tools are needed. Could you please bullet point how i go about it, or confirm that there is likely to be similar responses elsewhere on the forums. only basic guidance needed, i’ll work out the rest, but i dont want to for example take the front off if not necesary. thanks for your prompt response. neil
