Hotpoint washing machine bearings

Hello

I’m looking for some info, I’ve a 20 month old hotpoint washing machine. Model number WMUD 9627P.
It’s starting to howl when on spin, i’m assuming that the bearings are on their way out. Kind of surprised given it’s only 20 months old, but then I do moan to the Mrs about how much clothing she jams into the machine.

Do I have to replace the tub, ~£130 for parts. Or can i get access to the bearings.
Or should i just bin the machine and get something else.

I’m less than sure what your interpretation of “howl” means? However, when bearings on a washing machines start to fail the sound is a distinct low frequency rumble. Your machine is capable of speeds up to 1600rpm so it is fair to assume those bearings won’t last very long anyway given the torque stresses 7kg of towels would create. But 2 years heavy domestic usage and you may be on the right track in thinking the bearings may well be on the way out.

Once you hear that low frequency rumble then you know it’s only got days to live. After that brown rust marks on clothing is the first visual sign things are bad. And it’s time to think new machine. 😕

Another option would be to call HOTPOINT and use the 5 year parts warranty

Cheaper than buying a tub and fitting it yourself
