Participanthi there
my hotpoint wd 420 has stopped working
it starts normally but after 1-2 mins it faults
i have checked out your fault code list but what this machine does isthe main on/off light flashes rapidly continiously
the high heat light flashes steadly continiouly ihave watched it for a long time and there is no break in the flashes
the only way to switch the machine off is at the mains pressing the main on/off button has no effect
the only way in which the machine worked was when i ran the dryer prog for 30 mins thinking that the electronics/board etc had got damp and that the heat generated through the whole machine might dry it out but this did not work
i am a motorsport engineerer and have experiance of elesctronics/wiring etcregards

Always best to give the lights by position, if I am correct then ignoring the mains light you have the top or light 1 flashing.
This is the dreaded F08 fault. Supposed to be the heater relay fault but it can be the pcb, the pressure switch, poor wiring connections or a combination of all of those.
If you do a forum search for ‘eight flashes’ and read all the Indesit, Ariston and Hotpoint ones you will get some idea. 😥

The electronics are 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}Indesit, very suspect. Pcb is around £100, smart card to programme the pcb around £20, card reader needed to use the card to programme the pcb another £100. Check for bad wiring contacts first but don’t get your hopes up.
