if it tripping the rcd you are looking for an earth fault. door lock does not have an earth so unless its wet cant be that
megger all elements and motorDave

i’m just trying to get my head around the fact the machine is finished the program stopped for like ages 3 or 4 mins and then it trips ???? . i dont have a megger , so all i can do are continuity tests and a 10 a load test will this be sufficient , also is it possible that the carbon dust is causing this ? thanks Dave

I agree it a bit weird does it trip as the door unlocks or a minute or so after ?
does it happen every time ? (intermittent faults are a pain)
try disconnecting tumble dryer heaters and running programme see if it does it then. if customer does not use dryers elements can get damp over time
if the machine is left switched on will it trip over and over again or just the once?
As for motor if you think it may be carbon dust there is no reason you cant disconnect earth to motor for a test while you are there. no earth means it cant trip rcd as it is mounted on plastic tub

A fundamental oversight and greater inconvenience for you there then, my friend. I feel certain had you had access to such an instrument you would quickly solve this problem. 😀

as far as i can tell a minute or so after the light goes out , it happens every time and it trips once, when you reset the rcd it stays on ok even when the machine is powered on , until the next end of program that is ho ho ho . i didnt buy a megger cause i was under the assumption they were mega expensive get it MEGA … anyway i just seen one on rs.com for 25 euro !! could this be true a proper megohmeter ?

€75 – €100 will get you the tool you need. Essential to allow you easy and accurate diagnosis and, above all, save you wasting your precious time. Not to mention the safety aspect toward you and your customer.
