ParticipantWe bought a Hotpoint Aquarius WD420 3 months ago. It worked fine for a short time, then the on/off button started rapidly flashing and the drying high heat button start flashing slowly. If we leave the unit overnight on the dry program with the power off, then the unit will *not* reset, but leaving overnight on a wash program resets the unit, and it works ok for a day or so, then stops again (same problem).
We have had 3 Hotpoint engineers out, 1st re-programmed the EEPROM, the second replaced the control board, and the third cleaned the connectors on the control board.
As another strange / helpful note – the unit now puts the extra heat light on at the end of every successful dry cycle (or if we manually stop the dry cycle).
Any suggestions gratefully received please.January 16, 2007 at 11:29 pm #201109iadom

Any suggestions gratefully received please. If this machine was purchased from new then phone the Indesit Company and insist they sort it out or contact the dealer who supplied it and try and get it replaced, preferably with something without any Indesit connections. 😥

Hiya Jim
Many thanks for the swift reply. The unit was a replacement for a 8 year old Indesit that failed under extended warranty, so was straight from Indesit. We do have an engineer booked in to visit, but I will take on board the comments.
Annoyingly the machine passes all diagnostics (USB into rear of machine!), but does show that an error has occured.
The strange thing is the reset if not on the dry program…
Thanks again – JamesJanuary 17, 2007 at 12:02 am #201111iadom

What was the number of the error that had occurred?

Thanks for the responce – the unit does not have a display, it just flashes various lights to show the code.
All I can say is slow On/Off which suggests ‘ machine has a problem’, and the ‘Dry Extra Heat’ fast – suggesting a drying problem (funny as it appears when drying…)
Thanks

Actually the top led ( drying high heat ) flashing on its own indicates a fault with the wash heating element. Having said that it could be somthing as simple as damp on the power board especially as it clears overnight.
Due to its age I would sugest trying to get a replacement from Indesit…January 19, 2007 at 9:45 pm #201115jamest142

Hiya folks
Many thanks for the suggestions – I had a FSE check the unit again today, and Hotpoint have agreed to replace the machine for a new one. 😆
BTW – the machine is in the house (kitchen) and I cannot see if it is damp related – the wndows are not steamed up or anything.
Many thanks for all your help.
James
