    My daughters washer driersmelt lik something was melting. When I got to it I couldn’t see any damage. The machine now washes correctly but on the drying cycle it goes through the motions but does not heat (or smell anymore). Do I just need a dryer heater element?

    Possibly, but here may well be a cause and effect thing going on here. No heat can be element, thermostats, safety thermostat blown, dodgy wiring, fan motor not running/failed – a full check with a testmeter is essential before splashing out on parts.

    Stay safe, power off at all times.
