Hotpoint WD420 – T/Dry heat

Hi Folks

Went to this m/c yesterday. Cust complaining of taking a long time to dry + intermintant triping of the house elcb.

custmer had got m/c for an hour b4 i got there to show me that it wasn’t working properly!!! Stripped heater box and inspected condenser and fan (without burning my fingers to much! miracle!) checked water coming in + pump out.. all seem ok.. Ran m/c with door open to check fan blowing ok.. air and heat coming through but felt there might be a slight restriction but no sign of one?

Megger m/c all seems clear.. put back together and ran for about 15 min.. seems to working ok but tripped elcb on what seemed like a change/switch over from the module.. imediately megga m/c – all clear
m/c only trips when cust using dryer.

When was trying m/c with ammeter cliped on the heater was switching in and out quite quickly 10-20 sec on 2-30 secs off – is this the quick responce of the thermistor or is this a faulty module causing the long drying time?

Is there somewhere on the condensing system that I havent checked for a blockage? (just checked at fan as this seemed to go straight into tub – even poked the preverb bit of wire coat hanger down to check for blockage at air duct that is part of tub).

Anyone any ideas what might be causing these two faults?

hi, i would be checking the module plugs down the back, water can sometimes come out through the vent hole on top of dryer box, runs down side of drum & drips onto module plugs, often find the plugs burnt there, can cause intermittent tripping,

Is there any way of stoping the leak or is it a plastic bag over module job? 😯

Would apreciate any comments on poor dryin prob or is it linked to the module prob?
