ParticipantI’m a newbie to the site.
I have a Hotpoint Aquarius Washer Dryer 1200 spin. S/N 33108237 and it has stopped drying.
It does not come up with any error codes on the front panel and seems to work apart from the drying programme doesn’t dry.
I’m also not sure if it gets to required heat on the washing programmes as I haven’t used the washing programme since it failed. Should I test it to see if it goes through the entire washing/drying cycle without failure?
When I stick it on the drying programme it pumps and lasts the required time I set it for it but it doesn’t dry or heat the items in any way.
I bought a service manual off ebay for a couple of quid to get some idea of what I’m dealing with.
I’m not a stranger to electronics but I’m a stranger to whitegoods. If its a simple fix i.e Cable was loose, Cable need replacing, Component needs replacing etc, etc then I’m capable of doing that if its a simple fault find. Anything more technical then I’d call in the cavalry but I wouldn’t like to spend the money on a call out for a simple broken wire.
If anyone has any ideas I’d appreciate it!!
I asked the bloke who gave me the service manual and he said “Sounds like the heater element or a one shot cut out on the heater assembly”
A couple of lads on my BMX Forum have said they had broken Thermal Fuse cables due to vibration and once reattached/replaced then that had solved their problem.
Another lad said the thing to look at is “the diode & the circular component are thermal overload protection devices & if they are open circuit there’s usually a reason for it, the most common one for this model is the fan has slipped down the shaft on the motor & jammed on the housing”
And “the heater is open circuit” therefore I presume I can check the resistance of its terminals and it should be infinite if blown?
Does anybody else have any other ideas I can check with my multimeter?
I’d like to get as much information now before I open her up as I dont want my washer/dryer parked in the middle of my small kitchen for a few days while I try test various ideas out.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you
Ian

The Heater is open circuit and everything else seems okay!
So I’ll replace the heater and see if everything works!
I was expecting a response but I guess I already knew possible fixes.
Thanks anyway
