ParticipantTonight I was washing a duvet, pillowcases and a sheet. I had it on the wash setting then dryer setting (normal setting, not the high heat one). I checked it a couple of times and the dryer was going fine. After the time was up I checked on it, and the start/stop button was flashing quickly along with the ‘drying high heat’ and ‘reduce wrinkles’ lights. This never happened before. Now when I try to start it, these lights just come on and start flashing quickly and it won’t start. This washer is around 2 years old. I know the dryer’s working because the sheets etc were warm when I took them out.
Help!

Can you tell us by number from top to bottom which lights are flashing?
Jim.
PS. Surely you mean Reduced Creases. 😆

OK, from top to bottom, it’s buttons 1 and 2 (out of 5 buttons). And the on/off button blinks as well, all at the same time.
And yes, I was washing a duvet COVER. :rolls: My goodness if I was washing a duvet I’d really have problems!!
Reduce wrinkles…reduce creases…same thing! 😆

Not goods news really, Fault code is F12, which is supposed to signify a communications error between the two circuit boards, could just be loose connections but could also be faulty control board. 😥 The Indesit electronics used in these machines do have a reputation of being somewhat unreliable. Be sure to remove the mains plug if you intend to investigate and remember that you are covered for parts for five years, so if you send for Hotpoint/Indesit then you will only pay the labour.
Worth checking that none of the buttons are stuck in as well.
Jim.

😀 Actually..my husband thought maybe it was overheating and this triggered a cutoff switch of some sort. So he took the top off, disconnected a few things (not sure what) reconnected them, and voila! The washer works again! Whew!!!!!!!!!

for some strange reason, ive had a few ‘f12’ faults
ive unplugged them , left them 15 mins and plugged em back in, its a communication error, so the machine tends to reset itself.. always the first thing i try…
hope this helps someone, somewhere
