w/d less than 2years old…cust can’t find any paperwork to confirm this. has spoken to hotpoint service desk who would not send engineer out under the 4years parts scheme. however…cust says w/d not heating water on any cycle…checked heater, heater thermistor…both ok. suggests the main board…am i right? also…dryer not working…heater ok …blower motor not rotating…t/stat blown…adding up the cost
    main board…………£100 approx
    blower motor……….£40 approx
    t/stat………………….£20 approx……………….total £160 plus labour
the fix is probable if its not the main board.
    any thoughts?

Give Hotpoint the serial number for the machine – that is irrefutable proof that this piece of “Indes*it” is under 5 years old. What an utter cop-out. Shows how much faith they have in their own machines. And the indifference to their customers. 👿
Usual blower fan problem is the plastic fan fouling on the drier housing. The difference between the old fan and the new fan when placed side by side flat (blades upwards) on a table, is that the new one is 1/4″ smaller (thinner) than the old one. Hence it doesn’t foul any more. Methinks this must be a known fault. 😉 I’ve fitted quite a few of these fans.
In the event of not having a fan on the van, I have just carefully cut 1/4″ off the fans and refitted them. No problem at all. The stat on the drier will have failed because of the lack of passing air.
EMW could probably test and repair that board – probably the cheapest option.

    Hope that helps,

    Steve.

    Richard,
I had one similar to this with a board fault JUST 18 months old, because the customer was French and his english was not the best I offered to book the call for him under the “Free” 5 year parts guarantee.

I even went to the trouble of quoting “Customer service :rotfl: ” the correct part number……….That was there chance to refuse the “Free” parts!!!

Because I had diagnosed the fault by inspecting the piece of shy t they said the warranty was now invalid :rolls:

And there was me thinking the appliance had to inspected by a competent engineer apparantly it doesn’t matter as long as he/she is employed by the manufacture ???????????
