Had a Hpt doing something like that a while back. Couldn’t figure it out but it had to be module or motor. But I noticed the bearings were getting noisy so I sent her to Hpt. Their o.o.g. deal isn’t bad when there’s a problem like this. I aksed her to let me know what happened, telling her to insist they fixed everything even though the bearings might have lasted a few more months.
She was good enough to let me know. It cost £109.99 or something like that. The guy was there for 70 minutes. He replaced the complete welded drum, the motor, the module and one or two other bits. It was OK after that!

So there you are slyp98, replace just about everything and you will have a good chance of fixing it, the problem is that you will have to do exactly the same to the next one. 😥

The thing is you have to do what’s best for the customer! And in this case, and until one of us cracks this particular fault, your best way of serving them (IMO) in cases such as this, galling as it may be, is to send them to Hotpoint. I still took my (relatively meagre) call-out charge on that one. And the customer was quite willing to pay it, since I’d spent an hour trying to suss it and she knew I was giving her the best advice! If you try to fix this yourself, e.g. by chancing a module, you could end up losing out and the customer probably loses out too in down-time and uncertainty.
Next time, when the brushes or the pump goes, you get the job!
And Hotpoint pays for their own mistakes 😉 .

Totally agree Mike, I regularly pack them off to the Indesit Company if it looks like I will spend more time and money on the machine than it is worth. :rolls:

Most of the ones i’ve had like this have been in rural locations and ive rewrote the module to cure, i think spikes in the voltage or something must screw them up.

So you do not throw the kitchen sink at them Johnny, I’m guessing that a franchise engineer has to work to different parameters to a company engineer. 😉
Does that mean that an EMW replacement PCB might fix this fault?
The question is, would it actually show up as faulty on their tests?
