hotpoint wd420p dryer thermostat

hi everyone looked at this last week and the dryer thermostat was o/c so ordered a new one when i went to replace it noticed it was different .the old one is a 145 deg with a yellow spot and the new one is a 160 deg with a red spot is this correct as i dont see any other one listed.i even looked at the apartment next door where the other type of box is on the dryer and it has the red spot stat.Can anyone answer this thanks.

Correct part number for the TOC is C00115570 or 1605160. Should be a red spot.

thanks for reply Jim. does it not matter that the old one has a yellow dot could it be the old type of heater box or does it matter now and the new toc works with both.i just want to make sure that it is the right one.thanks Niall

TBH I’ve not seen a yellow dot on one of these, has the machine been repaired in the past?

Even the red dot one will fail in no time at all if the fan is loose or jammed or the filter is gunged up. 😉

The red dot TOC has been removed on the later heater box and replaced with an external, sleeved microtemp device.

it could have been repaired by someone else before i dont know but i will fit the red dot toc and see .is the sleeved microtemp device part number Thermal cut out Cable (5031681476865).if so then it does not have this. the serial number on the m/c is 37143634.

The the red dot TOC (C00115570) is the correct part that you need.:tup:
