ParticipantI have a Hotpoint Aquarius WD420P that is failing to dry clothes after any cycle setting.
I have checked out the dryer element and it is getting a current through it but it just isn’t heating up.
The dryer fan motor is also running and air is getting into the drum but no heat is being generated.
Anyone got any ideas? I would appreciate some suggestions on what is wrong.
Thanks

You say that it is getting current through it, I can assume you mean the heater is getting 230v ?
If this is so it would mean that the heater is faulty/ Is it open circuit ,
however I would never recommend you test live.
Hope this helps

ParticipantI have rechecked the heater element and it is working OK – the problem seems to be a thermostat switch that is wired in series with the heater element.
The thermostat is permanently open preventing the return supply from the heater reaching ground – hence the heater not working.
The thermostat is an ELTH 10 (3) 250 ~ T175K can a replacement be easily obtained?

You will need the conversion kit – top half of heater chamber with thermostats and other goodies – p/no 1605230.
An email to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk for prices and ordering.

I have the same problem, are you saying that you can’t just replace the thermostat? Seems like an awful lot of stuff to throw away for a 50p thermostat!

Depending on the age of your machine, if you just change the stat you will keep having problems, the kit includes all that is needed to modify this Indesit heater box. This does seem to be a successful modification.
If in doubt post up the full serial number and we will be able to advise further.
