Washer dryers – bit of a pig-in-a-poke really. If you check the manual, you will find that combis will wash the usual 5kgs of laundry. However, they will only dry half of that at a time – at best. This is fine for light fabrics, you will really struggle to dry denim, courdroy and the like.
Reasons for this are the reduced size of the drum by comparison to a tumble dryer – the clothes don’t “fly” as well, and the inefficiences of the condensing drying sytem.
That said, 2 hours seems a little excessive. Try load reduction and ensure that any drying load has been spun at full speed. In addition full heat is more or less essential.
Oh, and the electric bill goes through the roof………….
So, to summarise, it’s fine as a back up system, but if you wish to you use it as a family washer and dryer it will, quite literally, run 12 hours a day!
