ParticipantHi all…
I am an ex washing machine engineer, but have been out of the trade for about 10years,
I have a problem, and think due to the advancement of the appliances could do with some help….I Have a Hotpoint WD440 and after a few seconds it illuminates a fault code,
This is Mains: – 0n/off, flashing fast, also :- time saver, reduced creases, and drying high heat flashing slower but together…. with the pump running continuously, after a few minutes the pump stops.I have already checked the following, Pump is clear and outlet is not blocked, catch pot is clear and no obstructions, pump runs fine.
The pressure switch is fine, and the capillaries are clear,Any ideas please ??
Thanks John
😉

Hi Petalpop,
Sorry, but no, the wiring to the temp switch, fan and element are fine on the dryer chamber….
When first starting a wash programme, it starts ok, but after filling for a few seconds, stops filling, starts pumping out, with the codes flashing….
🙁

As petalpop says, 1,2 + 4 flashing does indicate an NTC or fan motor failure. give the wires to the NTC a gentle tug, they are very weak. It could also be a faulty NTC, not common but it does happen.
Sadly the Indesit electronics used in these machines are very prone to failure and if everything else checks out the the fault will often lead back to the main PCB. 😥
It might be worth trying to tighten up the very flimsy contacts on the main PCB as well, look for any obvious faults or burn marks on the edge connectors at the same time.
Jim.
