ParticipantHi, Got a few faults with my WD440 Can anyone help please ?
OK last week all working ok but became very very noisey… took the back off & found the bearings had come out of the motor ! Orded a new motor, when it came i replaced it. Job done, or so i thorght !
Now the motor is quiet but the water fills, drum turns twice then the machine stops, the 3rd light down (rince hold) & the on/off light flash rapidly. If i un plug it resets but gets to the same stage again & does the same. Even on the drying cycle it does two turns then same error. When the lights start flashing the pump pumps out for a few minuets to empty the machine.
I have checked & cleaned out the filter, checked all wires to the PCB, everything seems fine……Please, please can someone tell me what the flashing lights mean ?

F02 – motor circuitry fault. As far as I can remember, there were three, possibly four, different motors fitted to these machines and each one needs to match the embedded software in the computer.
If you will please post up the part number of the motor which you bought and the serial number of your machine, Uncle Jim may be able to tell what’s going on.

Was the original motor a CESET or an FHP motor, is the new one the same type?
Where did you obtain the motor from?

The motor i purchased looked identical to the original, ” MAIN MOTOR (SINGLE PHASE) Part Number: 1604492 1400RPM ” I purchased it from http://www.hotpoint-spares.co.uk (there was only one listed for the WD440 )
The serial No of my machine is 0662 WD440P 41167343
The odd thing is, i tried putting the old motor back on the machine, yes, it was noisy, but the error code still came up & machine stoped ?
The new motor has cost me £112
Does this mean i’m best to return the new motor ( still under 7 days ) & get hotpoint out…. i think the machine is about 3-4 years old ?
Thank you in advance for your replies !

That would be the best thing to do by far. If the motor has in some way corrupted the PCB then you would be into major expense.
Their own parts software does show two different motors. :rolls:
TBH it would have been cheaper to have let them do the motor in the first place as you would have only had to pay the £99.85 labour charge. 😉
