Hi, I have a problem with a WD440. The cycle stops and the on/off light pulses rapidly and the top led dryer light is on. Is this an indication of an error code?? I unplugged and left it overnight. next morning I put it through a K cycle with no clothes and it wroked fine. Later, when my wife used it:
    a) The cycle just seemed to stop
    b) When restarted with a rinse cycle, we got the original flashing on/off light with dryer light on as well. When this occurs it sounds as if the dryer fan starts running too.
    c) After unplugging and starting again we got a smell of electrical burning which I believe is coming from the control module board on the left hand side at the back.

You have the dreaded ‘eight flash’ problem. Use the site search facility and enter “Indesit AND eight AND flashes” and you will get some idea of your problem.

Best advice is to take advantage of your five year parts guarantee and send for the Indesit Company, all parts will be free, you only have to pay their modest :rolls: 😥 labour charge.

Sounds like your main PCB has failed, often caused by a leak from the dryer assy.

Many thanks, Indesit engineer booked, will let you know. What part of the dryer leaks, I noticed there was a gasket between the drum and the cast aluminium vent pipe at the top of the drum which didn’t appear to be accurately aligned. Could it be there??

It is directly above the main PCB, the engineer will be well aware of the problem and should check for it.
