ParticipantHello
I bought and was delivered a Hotpoint aqaurius WD440 on Monday last. The guy who delivered and connected it set a programme working although I don’t know which one. Ever since the 1st (drying high heat) and second (reduce creases) light have remained on.I pulled the plug out overnight but is still the same.
Any advice please?
Many Thanks

Is this a brand new machine? If it is then you should contact the person who sold it to you or the Indesit Company direct. if it was second hand or reconditioned then you should again contact the person who sold you the appliance.
Neons 1+2 indicate a communications error, it could just be a loose connection block or a fault on either of the PCB’s.
Either way your first course of action is to contact the supplier, it is not a fault you should be attempting to fix yourself.

These machines are rubbish you will have one problem after another. I would kick up a stink and ask for it to be changed, try and get a Zanussi.

Hi Graham
I had a zanussi once but the dial stopped working properly, the ridges seemed to wear out so I never really knew which programme I was using.
Can you say what ‘Zanussi ZWD14270W ‘ is like?
I also avoid LCD displays as I think the more complex the machine the more to go wrong.
I wish I had found this site before I bought it!! lol
any advice appreciated

Most machines now have a digital display panel these days and are fairly reliable assuming you buy the right machine.
The model number you mention ZWD 14270W looks like it is NOT a split cabinet machine.
I would always go for the split cabinet models as they are easier to repair if they do break down.
Also if you are in a hard water area then avoid the jet system models, as far as spin speed goes 1200rpm is plenty fast enough IMO.
I dont know the model number for the split cabinet 1200 spin, non jet system model but someone on this site will know or just have aring around a few dealers.
One final thing do you really need a washer/dryer? as they are very energy inefficient you are always better off with seperates even if you go for a small 3kg tumble dryer.
Hope this helps

Hi Graham
I do need a washer/dryer as I live in a small flat although I don’t use the dryer unless I have too to keep cost and energy down.
What is a ‘split cabinet machine?’
Thanks

The cabinet has a seam down the side, halfway back.

Hi guys
The engineer came said he didn’t have the part and i heard nothing for 3 weeks. I rang three times and eventually I demended a full refund including delivery and installation.
So now I have to choose a new one.
The only specifics are; quick wash and ability to dry for as long or little time as I wish, about £300
any suggestions?

There is nothing but junk in the washer dryer line for £300.00, a decent washer dryer cost far more than that 25 years ago. If you want to spend £300.00 or less, expect to be forking out another £300.00 in two or three years. 😥

I’ll have a think. My last washer dryer was an Ariston and aslted about 12 years but I don’t know how much it was?
