ParticipantThere 2 questions I would like to ask:-
1) What is the correct configuration when assembling the motor.
2) If this is not the cause of the fault, any idea what to check?
The Story so far……..
Originally the washer stopped mid cycle with the power light flashing quick and the rinse hold light flashing slowly. The drum appeared to be seized, further inspection found it to be the motor bearing.
I have replaced the motor bearing, but on disassembly the device on the non drive end that consists of a donought shaped magnet encased in metal with 2 wires coming from it. Inside this was another smaller donought shaped magnet that showed signs of wear and heat. The signs of heat and wear on this part must have been a result from it being loose and rattling round for some time.I was not sure how this was supposed to be reattached so I decided to leave it out for the minute and power up the machine.
When the machine was first powered up the machine started a cycle as normal but then stopped after about 2 minutes with the with the power light flashing quick and the dry high heat and reduce creases light flashing slowly.
I figured that the fault must be due to the donought shaped magnet, I had left out. I attached this part to the end of the motor shaft so that it rotated freely within the larger donought, without success I removed it from the motor shaft and let the magnetism hold it to the inside of the larger donought without success.
Now no matter what I do I cant get any of the lights to come on at all, as if the machine is totally dead. checked the fuse and socket and both are ok.
Speaking with a friend a work today he recommended this site and said you had helped him a few times, I have my fingers crossed you will be able to do the same for me, and ease the verbal lug battering a am getting from our lass.
Thanks

Outer doughnut is tacho generator coil. Inner doughnut is the tacho magnet, which should be a firm push fit onto the end of the shaft. The magnet turning within the coil acts as generator, the pcb reads the signal and uses it to monitor motor speed.
Motor out of circuit will prevent the machine from powering up.

Thanks for the quick response.
I have just fitted the parts back as described but there is still no lights at all. I have checked the connections to the motor which seem ok.Is there a combination of buttons I need to press to reset the machine?

Fault found yippy!!!
I have learnt the school boy error, don’t tip your machine with the draw on top!
Water was on the board and connections, dried of with a hair dryer, and urika, the dam thing works!!! ( 😥 just hope I haven’t caused problems for the future, at least I will know where to look. All in all cost me £4.78 for a motor bearing and £4.99 for some araldite to fix the tacho magnet onto the motor shaft, every wash till the next failure feels like a bonus, (i am going shoe shopping with my daughter tomorrow 😀 she will be pleased
Thanks againg for your help
