Hotpoint WD51 motor replacement

HI,

I need to replace a 904/1158/10 (800/15000rpm) motor from a Hotpoint WD51.

I stripped the motor down and the bearings have gone at the commutator end of the armature. Ideally would simply replace the armature, but it appears this motor (or armature) is no longer available.

I understand that it is possible to replace this motor with a newer FHP type. However, it would appear that these are not directly compatible. I found a topic with a similar discussion viewtopic.php?f=34&t=19843 which recommended part number 1604822, http://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/Washing+ … Motor.html.

However, I am a little confused by the replies which alternately state that it is a ‘new FHP motor and conversion kit’, a ‘straighforward replacement, no conversion kit required’ and ‘if you know what you are doing you do not need the conversion kit’ which confused me even more! From photos I have seen it wouldn’t appear to be directly plug-compatible – but it is hard to be certain.

I would be most grateful if someone would clarify the situation and whether ordering 1604822 is all I would need in my situation?

I think if you were to email shop@ you would find that they are able to supply you with a suitable armature.
