    Hello all!

I’m being driven up the wall by this machine…we love it, have had it for years, repaired it etc…
When we moved to Wales we inherited a washing machine which we use for almost all of our washing. We only really use the WD62 for tumble drying, I know that this can cause issues…I guess that’s at the root of ours. It keeps blocking up with lint in a trap held within a rubber tube that attaches to the white plasitic drain from the drum. I’m fed up with having to pull the machine out, open the back and clear the drain. It’s damaging my wall, as it is on a ledge about 2 feet off the ground (don’t do there…it’s concrete so all is sound!!)

My question…is there a way I can “customise/modify” the wd62 so that it doesn’t block as often when we use it as a tumble dryer? If not, what new machine would you guys recommend I look at? I don’t really want to go vented, although I can if pushed!

    Any comments greatly appreciated!

    Re: Hotpoint WD62

It is the height of madness to use a washer dryer as a dryer only. :rolls: 🙂

The dryer is only designed to tumble dry half loads to start with.

The drying performance of any washer dryer is much worse than the poorest tumble dryer.

The WD62 needs to be connected to a water supply. The cold water is used to allow the condensor to operate and during the wash & rinse cycles the cold water is used to constantly flush out the dryer condensor.

Do yourself a favour and buy a separate dryer, it will pay for itself in no time at all compared to using this machine as a dryer.

Current Zanussi dryers are a decent, mid range option if you can’t run to an ISE 10 or a Miele.

    Jim.

    Thanks Jim.

I didn’t realise that the performance was quite that poor! Fortunately, I’m not quite that silly and have connected the machine to a water supply. we do wash in it occasionally!

Thanks for the tip – The appliance of science eh?!!
    Whats an ISE 10?

    Thanks again.

It would need regular, normal use to keep the condensor clear and prevent the rapid build up of gunge.
