I don’t deal with Qualtex myself but I read on here they still do the armatures for the GEC type motor. You may need to use the original tacho magnet if the new armature comes with the wrong type. If you buy the FHP motor you will not only need the different plug but also the correct insertion tool for poking the wires into the plug. Alternatively you can fit individual spades but make sure every other one has an insulating sleeve. At one time Connect were doing a service kit which was good value and included a motor and plug.

New armature from Qualtex – ARM20 @ £24 + VAT. FHP motors were fitted in the later machines, but they had a tendency to whack the side panel in the event of an off – balance load. They were often fitted with a stick on slam panel or a square of foam padding in a futile attempt to stop cabinet damage. Suspension should be tight if an FHP is used…..
Repair the GEC unit!Steve.

Yep, just trim the lug off and turn it through 180 ° or as helo-75 says line up the wires to the tacho.
I still change ARM 20’s on a regular basis, always carry two on stock.
The only problem with the Qualtex ARM 20 is that the motor pulley is often not pushed down onto the shaft far enough and the belt rides on the very edge of the drum pulley unless you move the belt closer to the motor body and have some of it running on the flat of the pulley rather than in the grooves. It can also be a problem with the very last incarnation of the door release pecker as this pressed against the motor pulley and not the belt.
