Hotpoint wd62 stopped completely no lights- nothing

Hi everyone,
this machine was working fine, my missus switched it onto a cycle, it came on as normal for a second or two, then went off, so she pushed the power button off and back on, and it came on for a second, then went back off and now nothing – no lights, nothing at all.
checked fuse in spur and plug itself, all ok.
do i start with door switch or what?
any suggestions gratefuuly appreciated as usual

usual suspects are the on off switch itself

then the door lock

they do tend to melt the terminals on the on/off switch on the live side

plug out if checking
