ParticipantHi,
I’ve had a failure on the dryer side of the machine with error code F-13.
This happened about 2-3 weeks ago. I removed the dryer unit cleaned everything up and replaced the thermo cut as that had blown. Re assembled everything and dryer has worked fine since then.
Problem i now have is the same thing has happened again and the thermo cutout has gone again.
I think before it was caused by the dryer fan jaming causing the unit to over heat. My question is i sanded the plastic fan wheel down as it was brushing on the casing. There seems to be some movement between the plastic fan and the motor which lead me to believe the bearings maybe wearing but has anyone else had this issue or is it normal or fault? Also dont seem to be able to buy the plastic circle fan part anywhere but you could see previously where this had worn on the alloy casing.
Thanks

Can you post up the serial number for your machine (door hinge). There have been numerous modifications to these to try and make them work.

I haven’t the full tech info on these little horrors, but Jim or Helo will probably be able to fill you in in the morning.

Difficult to know were to start. practically everything has been modified, then re modified. If I have one of these I always change the complete assembly with all the modifications but the part number seems to have vanished from Partfinder.
I will see if I can dig it out, hopefully it will still be availble.

Part number of complete heater box kit is 1605710. Sadly it appears to have been discontinued. Worth sending an e-mail to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk to see if we can source one for you.
Otherwise its down to ordering individual parts such as fan, fan motor, element, thermal cut outs etc, all of which have been changed at some time.
The strange thing is, according to your serial number you should already have the metal fan that replaced the plastic one. 😕

thanks for the replies.
my machine does have the plastic fan and you could see where the fan had rubbed the alloy casing. this was why i sanded it down to stop the problem. I asummed it was mainly caused by fluff build up.
is the metal fan available as a part?
i take it these machine are not very good then?
thanks

That gets my vote for ‘understatement of the year’ 😥All the dryer bits, plus the dodgy electronics in this machine are 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} Indesit. :rolls:
It looks as though the metal fan will not fit to the motor that had a plastic fan. Maybe one of the Indesit or Comet engineers may know better.
Metal fan is a C00080658
Motor for metal fan is C00098711.It is possible to loosen the fan on the shaft and press it back down a little, the reason it fouls on the casing is due to it coming loose and dropping down slightly.

well i’ve got a hotpoint fridge but they did offer to extend the onsite warranty for £35 including callout for 5 years so they dont go wrong i hope. but i never recieved the same offer on the washer wondered why 🙂
would i be right in thinking this is the complete part you mentioned?
from the image the thermo cutout is different as its on top where as mine it under the heating element.
if the below item if the complete kit think i may be best going of that?

I’ve changed the thermal cut once but its blown again so fault must be with fan/motor i’m thinking as i cannot see anything else that can go wrong. may be wrong
but i have checked the thermal cutout and it is open circuit.

hi, if you just sanded down the fan blade the chances are that that is where the problem is, they dont foul on the fluff, but slip down the motor shaft enough to catch on the base, once it catches the stat will fail, i have never yet seen a metal fan come loose, but you cannot fit that to a machine that has a plastic one, due to changes in several other parts plus the new parts would also require the module to be re-programmed, best bet would be a new fan blade kit & prob also worth changing the thermistor as helo mentioned, ( fan kit it C00194936 includes fan blade & new fixings)

can I not just change the whole dryer unit then with the one i found without reprograming anything?
that part number doesn’t show any on whitegood or partmaster for the fan kit. is there any other good parts suppliers?
thanks
