Cannot think I have ever done one before, but need to change the dry heater on a Hotpoint WD71. Whats the deal with the tinfoil? Does it need to come off? Will it go back on? do I need to order some new stuff?

You can usually peel it back and then stuff it back into place afterwards, its impossible to split the box without breaking the foil insulation but I have never had to order or replace one.

did this yesterday and you are right Jim, the insulation is folded under the heater box so can be removed in one piece. Just a lot of dissmantling to access something that is stareing you in the face when the top is removed……not that I will ever probably change another but a stanley knife and 2 metal tie wraps are very tempting.
