This could be the interlock itself or the little button on the board behind the start button

Ihave tried a new door lock so if it is the button on the board does it mean new board ?

Easy enough to pinch one of the option buttons & solder it on Mario. Or if you have a scrap board you can get one off that. Very common fault, repaired quite a few 😉

very strong possibility the interlock has taken down the control board. remove the console and check for blown tracks behind the control board. very likely to have blown the track….

Printed circuit board not blown . How do I replace switch ? Do I peel plastic back to access switch or do I cut through it . Thanks for all replies

? Plastic ?
Not familiar with this model but I think you are looking at a tactile switch?
Like one of these:
RS
but click the link that says, “more like this” as that one might be wrong size.So any plastic that’s getting in the way will have to be moved aside or cut through (though preferably not that, as its presumably protection against water ingress.)
Note which way round old switch is mounted and put new one same way – (legs are bent. Or, if it’s surface mounted, there will only be one way of mounting it.)
If you haven’t done electronic soldering before, search You-tube and get some tips first.

Could be a blown chip ?? I post this on another reply but could be relevant .
There is a 3mm x 2mm chip on the bottom left hand side easily distinguished by three prongs out the top and a single square plate attatchment at the bottom all soldered . check the chip for blown surface damage and of course track damage . Repair track damage and change the chip with one off a scrap board …….

Lasty, I’m not absolutely certain, but I think WD71 is an older machine which is pre – smd era.

(Edit: So you can happily also ignore the reference to smds in my previous post!)March 22, 2010 at 9:56 am #314864lasty

Cut a flap in plastic cover .Placed blade under the top part of switch and lifted out. Replaced back in position and now switch works . Thanks to you all for all the help on this job .
