Hotpoint wd71 wont pump out. error code E15

History:
Machine about 5 years old.
bearings/drum spider replaced about 3 months ago.
Machine has been stopping on spin cycle intermittently( failing to pump out giving the error E15 check outlet pipes) for last 3 weeks. restarting the machine/cycle initially resolved this. Not any more!!! Have checked all pipes and sump filter for blockages. All clear.
Stripped down pump and cleaned out. Cleaned up contacts and reassembled and pump worked fine on initial quick fill and empty test (have done this twice).
Feeling quite pleased with myself, i gave the wife the go ahead to put a wash on. The problem has now reappeared.
Seems the pump will only work when dry. When on a wash cycle could the pump be leaking internally causing a short or something?
Should i replace the pump?
have read other threads that a faulty heater could be causing the pump to go open circuit, but not sure about this.
Thoughts anyone?

Not quite – interference caused by earth leakage from a damaged heater may prevent the computer from turning the pump on.

I replaced the pump and all is now OK.
