ParticipantA customer called about the above machine. About 18 months ago Hotpoint fitted an 025448 control board as it used to cut out during the cycle. This machine is only used probably once a week on normal programs without using the dryer (as the customer has a separate dryer) or any selector buttons like rinse hold.
Last week the customer tried the dryer and found he couldn’t select it. Also the selector buttons do not relate to the information on the panel so can not be used.
Any ideas what could cause this?

Most likely the problem is caused by a water leak splashing onto the electrics (hole in door seal or chipped drum plate?).
Take a close look at the programme module for dried splash marks. ❗ Often all you need is a bit of switch cleaner or WD40 to spray on and wipe away (especially the legs of the tiny IC prog chip) 😉

The board has probably been configured as a wm1200 instead of wd1200.
You need to hold in three buttons together at turn on to configure the board. counting from the top, I think it’s one, two and five. (Might be wrong but try a few combinations)
The display will say “English”
You can then change the language to whatever, then you scroll through the models. WM1000, WM1200, WD1000 and WD1200.
I done one the other day without instructions and it didn’t take too long to work it out.
I am sure Jim will know the correct way of doing it.

Module configuration, this is for a WD71 but it is the same sequence. Hold down the A,B,& D buttons, press the On button, display will show WM1000, press the A key to scroll through the options when WD1200 or WD1400 is shown press the the Start button, display should show ‘English’, press the start button again and display should show ‘Select Programme. Programming is now complete.

Thanks for the info, is it possible these boards can revert to a default stated and loses the programmed option, or is it more likely it wasn’t set up when fitted?

Knew you would know Jim 😉
I haven’t known one to revert to default settings before. My money is on a dodgy Hotperloni engineer.

Or the grandchildren fiddling with the buttons, how many times during school holidays do you go to machines with the spin cancelled or the rinse hold selected, only for the customer to say, ” I never use that button” 😥 🙂

Hi,
Thanks for all the advice on this one.
I know it’s definitely not ankle biters fiddling with the buttons.
Customer sid he watched the engineer fit the part, switch it on and let it fill, wash and drain. Definitely didn’t programme it so it looks as if this is down to the
dodgy Hotperloni engineer
