Re: Hotpoint WD860 – please help!!

Hi there. Hoping To get some quick advice on this. My problem is the dryer not working.

I am a novice with a multimeter but have confirmed the following:

Thermistor indicates open circuit on a continuity check but on a resistance test indicates about 17kohms. Does this make sense and if so is the thermistor ok? I read somewhere that the reading should be about 24kohms.

The heating coil looks dead, it is dark in the middle and has splits. However I do have continuity and very little resistance. Presumably this means the element is fine even though it looks rough. Wuld you suggest changing to prolong life or not really?

Finally I cannot locate the thermostat or TOC there don’t seem to be any other devices on the unit other than the fan motor, which shows low resistance and a small degree of continuity.

I hope this makes sense. Does this indicate the problem or do I need to look elsewhere? By the way, the problem is the dryer not drying!

    Many thanks
