Hotpoint WD860 – test message

Hi,

When trying to select any wash programme on our Hotpoint WD860, the programme fails to start.

Instead the display reads as ‘test’, and the machine seems to run through each of the five options, dry, spin, rinse, wash, prewash over about an 8 minute period.

When left, the machine will repeatedly run through this test programme.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Using the forum search would bring up many answers such as this one.

if that doesn’t work then post up your machines date code ( the first two numbers of the serial number) there are a few variations to clear test, this ‘fault’ is usually caused by someone pressing On/Off & Start button at the same time.

Thanks for the reply Jim.

I pressed and held the 2 buttons On/Off and Start/Cancel until it showed the message ‘dOff’

It now seems to be working OK!
