Hotpoint WD8640 collects water after drying finishes

Hi,

The problem is that when I use the dryer function it works fine and dries the clothes, but if it’s been on for a while it sometimes collects water in the drum after the cycle has finished. It doesn’t do this every time, and it has done it with the laundry still in it and after I’ve emptied it. However, it only gets a couple of cm of clean water at the bottom, and doesn’t continue to fill up more than that if left. The water seems to appear overnight!

It has also never done this on a wash cycle.

I’ve read some answers related to similar topics but not sure if they apply in my case. It’s more annoying than anything else, but I don’t want to leave it in case it gets worse or ends up causing a flood!

It sounds like an intermittently faulty fill valve. If your cold water tap is easily accessible ( it should be ) but often is not 😥 , then turn the cold water feed off overnight for next few days as soon as you finish using the machine.

If the machine does not fill with water after doing this then your fill valve is faulty.
